During a solo cycling trip from Harwich to London, Joop van Egmond (MOND) has a tragic road accident nearby Rawreth, Essex County. He dies of his injuries June 12 at the Royal London Hospital.

Early in the seventies, Joop van Egmond (MOND) meets the sculptor Károly J. Dálnoki Veress, who resided a few years in Rijnsburg. This Hungarian artist influenced him greatly.

After a few years working for the Voluntary Fire Brigade Service in Rijnsburg, Joop van Egmond (MOND) starts working for the professional Fire Brigade in Leiden. He will passionately perform this duty until his retirement in 1998.

The emerging artist marries at July 14th. Picture of an oil painting from the 1977s. The original work is probably painted over.

One evening a week Joop van Egmond (MOND) visits the famous Academy Ars Aemula Naturae in Leiden. He learns about model drawing.

For some time, Joop van Egmond (MOND) forms a musical duo with his brother. The band is called The String Brothers.

The young artist is unsure what profession he wants to follow. The results from a test suggests carpenter or painter. He chooses the latter and enters Craft School in Leiden, The Netherlands.

Joop van Egmond (MOND) enters elementary school in Rijnsburg. He was not good at math, but his drawing skills were praised. Punishment consisted of sitting under the table (like is shown in the drawing).
